Diverse Designers at Nolcha Fashion Week 2012

Held simultaneously with Mercedes-Benz fashion week, Nolcha LinkFashion Week gives independent fashion designers an opportunity to showcase their new and exciting looks for the upcoming season. The most recent Nolcha runway event, held February 9th, 2012 marked eleven seasons and almost six years for Nolcha Fashion Week. This year, for the first time, the event was held at the Ailey Studios by Lincoln center.

The featured designers had diverse cultural backgrounds ranging from Turkey, Greece, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Italy, Guatemala and different regions of the United States. A portion of the 3:30pm runaway show featured two Latina designers Rebeca Tiago and Charlyn Castro-Rojas, which drew the support and attention of celebrity Adrienne Bailon. Adrienne even attended the Nolcha event wearing a stunning dress by Rebeca Tiago. The popular 6:30pm runway show featured Italian designer, Danilo Gabrielli, whose collection blended elements of both rustic Italian and luxurious American styles. In support of Danilo, a celebrity appearance was made by LuAnn de Lesseps from Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York. LuAnn's attendance to Nolcha Fashion Week may even appear in an episode of the television show.

An inspirational element to Nolcha Fashion Week this year was the introduction of Glocal's "Coleccion by Kem Ajachel" which is part of a mission to help educate and empower women in third-world countries. This beautiful collection included pieces made from silk, rayon and cotton materials handmade by women in Guatemala.

An exciting day came to a close with an elegant 9:00pm runaway show featuring Seckin Ilker's gorgeous formal wear and bridal selection. A combination of the new venue, diverse spread of designers, unique new looks and celebrity appearances made Nolcha Fashion Week 2012 quite the event!
